A wood deck that gets the right maintenance on the right schedule lasts decades. A wood deck that doesn’t get this maintenance only has a few good years before the surface starts to break down. The schedule isn’t complicated and the work isn’t hard. What it takes is doing it on time and with the right products. Most homeowners know the deck needs maintenance, but most homeowners don’t actually do it.
Backyard Builders Decks and Outdoor Living handles deck maintenance across Lyman and the surrounding Upstate. Cleaning, sealing, staining, refinishing, restoration, and exotic wood care all fall under the same scope. The maintenance schedule depends on the deck material, the deck’s exposure, and the finish on the boards. We size the schedule to the deck.

Our deck maintenance covers the full range of wood and exotic wood deck care. Cleaning, sealing, staining, refinishing, pressure washing, restoration, sanding, and exotic wood care are all part of the same service. Each maintenance job starts with an inspection of the deck’s current condition and ends with the work complete and reviewed with you.
A deck maintenance contractor who does this work every week catches the things a homeowner cleaning the deck on a Saturday afternoon will miss. The pressure setting that’s right for the wood species. The sanding grit that prepares the surface without tearing it. The sealer or stain that matches the existing finish. The schedule that keeps the deck in shape across years of seasonal exposure.
15+ years of outdoor living projects across the Upstate, with 1,000+ completed projects spanning Lyman and the surrounding service area. The same team that builds new wood decks also handles maintenance, which means the contractor maintaining your deck has framed and finished hundreds of them. The maintenance schedule we set up for your deck reflects the way the deck was built and the way it’s used.
